Durga and Lakshmi, one a human, the other a sentient stereo player, set out for a performance of fears: to rant the truth and perform the dare. Durga asks herself what epitomises a woman, what her twenty-first-century fears are, and lands on the idea of a garam roti.

What starts as a personal reflection becomes an exercise in communal listening to recorded rants of women from across India. The play moves from fiction into the non-fiction realm of the tapes library.
