About
The Urban Theatre Project opened on 6 July 2024 in a hundred-year-old house on Kabir Road, Kolkata. It is a laboratory for research, incubation and performance: a place for artists and creators to come, experiment, grow, and contribute to the larger live art world.
t2 called it not just theatre that dazzles but theatre that gathers. That is the whole idea. Forty-five people on cushions and chairs, a foot from the performer, in a room that has been somebody's home for a century. Your favourite neighbourhood laboratory.

Who runs it
Ninad Samaddar is the artistic director and co-founder. He programmes the house, produces the incubated work, and answers the phone, so call him. A changing company of collaborators, from the QTP team in Bombay to the photographers, technicians and volunteers in Kolkata, makes each season happen, and gets thanked by name every time.
